Vincent Keymer won the Super Chess Classic Romania in Bucharest, the first of two classical events on the 2026 Grand Chess Tour, played May 12-24.
The German number one sealed outright victory with a final-round win over Jorden van Foreest, finishing on 6/9, half a point ahead of Fabiano Caruana on 5.5, with Javokhir Sindarov and Wesley So a further half point back on 5.
Keymer gained 7.8 rating points and called it his "biggest classical tournament victory ever," continuing a breakout stretch that began with his Freestyle Chess success in 2025.
