FIDE has opened bidding to host the 2026 World Championship match between defending champion Gukesh Dommaraju and challenger Javokhir Sindarov, with the match provisionally scheduled for November 23 to December 17, 2026.
The host city is yet to be decided, with bids due by May 31. India and Uzbekistan are widely seen as the frontrunners, though Sindarov has floated a preference for Cyprus, where he won the Candidates.
It is set to be the youngest world championship match in history: both players will be 20 years old when play begins, something that has never happened in a title match before.
